Editor & Terminal
- Zed is my daily editor of choice after having used VS Code for years
- Ghostty as my terminal emulator
- I recently switched back to using (a more sane) Lilex after years of using Triplicate as my coding font
- I use a tab-size of 3. Yes, that might make me a psychopath. It's also why tabs are better than spaces.
- Codex is the agentic AI harness I use, using my rolling wave engineering skills to wrangle the bastard into doing what I need it to. I find myself usually using it for “obvious” things (like mechanical refactors etc) with strict reviews, while doing new creative work by hand
Other Software
- After having used the now abandoned Arc for years, I switched to Helium
- In an attempt to save some RAM, I very recently switched to using Notion/Linear/Slack in Safari rather than having them as separate (memory hungry) Electron apps
Video Recording
- For video calls and the occasional recording I use a Sony Alpha 6400 with a Sigma 16mm lens
- For audio I use a Blue Yeti X
Desk Setup
- 2024 14" M4 Pro Macbook Pro w/ 24GB of RAM, although I might have to upgrade to a machine with a bit more RAM soon..
- A pair of Apple Studio Displays (2022), with my laptop in clamshell mode mounted under my desk
- The desk itself is an Autonomous standing desk
- I dual wield a Apple Magic Trackpad and Apple Magic Mouse on the sides of my Apple Magic Keyboard
Music
- My main axe is a modified 2016 Fender Aerodyne Jazz bass
- I swapped out pickups with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders and Lemmy Kilmister Signature pickups
- My standard pedal board signal chain is:
- TranZformer CMP
- MXR Bass Synth
- Xotic Bass BB
- Aguilar Grape Phaser
- Cloudvocal EverSync for personal monitoring
